I happened to be looking through some newspaper cuttings the other day and this story jumped out at me. Date was May 27th 1977 in the local Journal.  Headline and story read:

Albion snaps up local lad

Andy Cowdell, of Abraham Darby School, a midfield player is a youngster going on tour with West Bromwich Albion.  Aged 15, he has been in fine form for the Telford area schools side and Oakengates this term.

Andy went on to play for West Brom and Newcastle and I am pleased and proud to say he is now a manager for Wrekin Juniors coaching the lads in our Under 8 Tigers team. 

Do we have any other famous coaches?  Please let me know so I can embarrass them too!! Tosh XX
