Wrekin Lions U15s were proud to provide three players for the Telford District Schools Cup semi-final played at the New Bucks Head stadium under floodlights.
The lads - Jake Ball (midfield), Jack Wilson (midfield) and Owen Brockis (right wing back) all played their part in their very first game in a Telford shirt.
Manager Nick Brockis said: "It was a proud moment for me, especially as my lad Owen was included in the starting line-up all wearing the AFC Telford away strip."
Telford schools played the better football by far and did not deserve to be one goal down being against the run of play. However they got back into the game with a timely equaliser a minute before half time.
An unchanged side took to the field for the second half and found that Stafford had more purpose about them. Telford schools began to make changes to bring on fresh legs but were unable to prevent two quick goals 15 minutes from time.
In a last ditch attempt Telford Schools got a second goal, but before they could get the ball out of the centre circle the referee blew full time.
A good display of football by Telford schools. A game to remember for the lads in more ways than one. They should be proud of what that have achieved and who knows where it will take them.
Well done and keep up the hard work.
